About this Event
The Decatur Lunar New Year Festival is Atlanta’s first Pan-Asian New Year celebration, featuring the diverse customs of several different Asian countries, including Vietnam, South Korea, China, Thailand, Japan, and the Philippines. It will be held outdoors at a new location at the Ebster Rec Center Courtyard, with limited access indoors. Visit our site at www.decaturlny.com and follow us on social media @decaturlny for latest updates.
Lunar New Year is about spending time with loved ones and engaging in traditions that bring good luck and health. Founded by Asian American families who have made their home in the City of Decatur, it is a chance to honor our diverse heritage and cultures and to celebrate the New Year with the greater Decatur Community. We also hope to promote inclusivity and education in a safe environment.
2025 will be the Year of the Snake. And this year's event will be bigger and better, with more space and performances on a center stage!
There will be craft booths where kids of all ages can indulge their creativity. A variety of food vendors will offer tasty treats, many of which are considered good luck for the New Year. Last year's vendors included: Adobo ATL, Rebel Teahouse, Leftie Lee's, Baolicious, Sweet Melts, Barangay, The Bite of Korea, 7 Fingers Baked Goods, Crinkles by Nina, and Sweet Auburn BBQ.
The highlight of the festival will be the lion dance, brought to you by dance team at 2:30pm.
Your ticket is tax deductible. This event is a fundraiser for Asian American Voices for Education (EIN 92-0503665), an Atlanta-based non- profit which advocates for the inclusion of Asian American history in school curriculums. Learn more about AAVEd at www.aaved.org
