Lloyd Tate is a CPA and a retired partner in the international accounting and consulting firm of Deloitte where he served as managing partner of the Louisiana practice for the last 20 years of his career. He earned his undergraduate degree from Loyola and holds an MBA from UNO. He spends most of his time during retirement in volunteer activities benefiting the Archdiocese of New Orleans. He is privileged to serve the Archdiocese in both its temporal as well as its pastoral ministries. He uses his skills in finance, investments, management and strategic planning to serve on numerous boards including Catholic Charities (serving currently as Chairman), the Catholic Foundation (emeritus board member and past-president) and Notre Dame Seminary. He also serves on the Finance Council and the Audit Committee of the Archdiocese.
In addition to his business degrees Lloyd also earned a Masters in Theology from Notre Dame Seminary and subsequently completed a two-year internship in Spiritual Direction which resulted in his certification as a spiritual director. He serves in a volunteer capacity on the staff of the Archdiocesan Spirituality Center where he provides spiritual direction for both lay and religious and he also leads retreats at retreat centers across the South. He and his wife, Jan, who is also a spiritual director, have been involved for more than 40 years in the ministry of marriage enrichment and preparing couples for marriage in the Church. In 2002 they authored a program entitled "In Home Marriage Preparation” to facilitate a mentor couple approach to marriage preparation. The marriage prep program is used extensively in our Archdiocese and in other major cities in the Gulf South and Lloyd and Jan continue to mentor engaged couples directly and train other married mentor couples throughout the Archdiocese. Lloyd and Jan have 5 children and 18 grandchildren.
