To commemorate the 163rd anniversary of the Battle of Perryville, you can discover what it was like to be a surgeon during the Civil War.Bryan Bush, park manager of the Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site, will discuss the aftermath of the battle in Perryville and surrounding communities and how local citizens of Danville helped to care for the wounded soldiers. Attendees will learn all about the medicines and instruments available to surgeons at that time, gain insight into the early use of ambulances and triage centers, and observe original medical artifacts from the Civil War.
