XVI Summer budo camp “Art of Japanese sword”01 – 06 July 2025, Bulgaria, Golden Sands
The camp /seminar is for everyone practicing sword based martial arts (or interested in practicing / gaining new skills).
Accommodation is also available for non participants - friends and family are welcome - take them with you :) We train together and recreate with our close ones :)
Iaido and Jodo training program would be leaded by Rene van Amersfoort - Kyoshi jodo 8dan, Kyoshi iaido 7dan (The Netherlands) with assitance by Peter Röder (Germany) - Kyoshi Iaido 7dan and Iaidokas with 6dan.
Of course, all trainings will be organized with all quarantine safety demands.
Frame schedule:
Arrival: Monday 30.06.2025
Training days: 01–06.07.2025
Departure: Monday 07.07.2025
Exact daily schedule would be announced later,
but be sure it would be enough intense and useful!
Place :
Training will be in the sports hall of Varna Free University. There will also lectures and workshops on topics related to budo.
The training program shall include Seitei and Koryu, Taikai and Shinsa techniques.
We plan to orgainze Iaido and Jodo exams during the camp.
Upon requests of the participants – morning Zazen meditation sessions shall be organized in the University garden.
The cost of the pleasure (by plan):
Seminar:
- Iaido or Jodo or Iaido & Jodo – 150 euros
- Organization fee – 5 euros (only for non - participants of the seminar)
Participation:
For the participation please send your filled request form prior to 10th June and receive a confirmation from the organizers.
! - Number of participants for the Iaido trainings is limited. After reaching of the maximum number, accepting of applications shall be stopped (possibly even before the 10th of June).
Accommodation:
(the prices are by plan, possible changes)
1) University student hotel (level 2,5*), room for two people, bathroom with shower, balcony: planned as €11 per night per bed. The application deadline is 8th June, after that the booking is not guaranteed (though possible).
2) Hotel “Kabakum”2-3* - 2 minutes walking from the the sports hall:

40 Euro per double room.
Children up to 12 years old /sleeping in additional bed with its seniors/ – free.
The application deadline is 1st June, after that the booking is not guaranteed (though possible)
3) Any hotels what you would find on booking.com, etc.
Attention! If you would like to stay for longer - you just need to specify the desired dates in the request form and we will arrange that.
Food:
Meals will be organized in the restaurant near the sports hall (for 3 times normal meals a day you would pay about 15-25Euros, 2 or 1 times - cheaper respectively). And for the ones staying in the hotels - as per hotel price lists.
In general, the area has couple of restaurants where you can eat for about 10 Euros per person.
Location:
Varna Free University is in resort area Alen Mak, Golden Sands. You can find it in Google Maps; the sport hall coordinates: 43.258596, 28.027881. Located 10 km north of Varna, sandy wide beaches, clean sea, gently sloping beach. There is public transport to Varna, buses go from early morning until late at night with an interval of about 10 - 15 minutes. Travel time - about 30 minutes.
