About HAL:

Started in 2018 - HAL aims to educate the next generation of InfoSec Professionals, uplift current capabilities, and encourage enthusiasts.

They have built a practical environment where attendees participate as we walkthrough attack scenarios in a CTF like environment as well as analyze defensive capabilities through preventative and detective technologies.

Their network is completely contained and does not require internet. Participants need only bring their laptop with a Kali Linux VM. We present in the Expanded K*ll Chain framework where we attack together then stop and analyze defensive technologies where applicable in order to build purple team fundamentals

Background challenges are available to skilled participant.

HAL Hosts:

Shofe Miraz (ins4n3)

Extremely passionate and dedicated penetration tester with a focus on Application Security, Penetration Testing and Mobile Application Testing. A quick and intuitive learner with achievements in several online penetration testing platforms and knowledge about Network Engineering, Linux System Administration and Windows Server Management.

Aside from the academic study, I work as a penetration tester. This empowers me to follow my passion. I am part of OWASP NZ and HackAndLearn community where I enjoy sharing knowledge with others.

The world is a small place in recent times, here information and connection means value. I believe people deserve to have security around them to protect what they care. Being able to spread awareness will lessen the bad impact the internet has on us.

Incorporating my work with studies, I have gained a range of skills such as Teamwork, Leadership, Punctuality, Positivity and many more.

I enjoy what I do and I don’t mind spending quality time with children at RecreateNZ.
