Join us for a fun and educational evening at Wyne Tasting Bar! In Class 102, you will learn to identify thousands of aromas while tasting both red and white wines. Discover the secrets behind swirling your glass and retronasal smells. Delve into primary aromas from grapes, secondary aromas from aging processes, and tertiary aromas that develop with age. Experience the fun of aroma vials, where you'll try to identify scents with the help of an aroma wheel.

We encounter thousands of aromas; we just need to learn how to recognize them when tasting wine:

• How do we do this?
• What happens when we swirl our glass?
• What is a retronasal smell?

Primary aromas that come from the grape:

• Red wine examples - you get to smell and taste!
• White wine examples - you get to smell and taste!

Secondary aromas that come from:

• aging process, barrel aging, lees contact, malolactic fermentation
• barrel age vs stainless steel
• Tertiary - develops with age
• mushroom, forest floor, etc.

Fun Aroma vials:

You will get an opportunity to smell through aromas in vials and attempt at identifying them. You will be provided with an aroma wheel to help you find the right description.

Experience 5 examples of wines to identify aromas:

• Shiraz
• Gewurztraminer or Oaked viognier
• Dry Rose
• Merlot or Cabernet Franc
• Sauvignon Blanc
