"Wycliffe Gordon is a breath of fresh air. He’ll play with anybody, bringing his commanding technique, sense of history and sheer exuberance to any musical setting"
– The New York Jazz Times

A true musical ambassador of America’s art form, Wycliffe Gordon stands among the most acclaimed and influential jazz trombonists of our time. Renowned for his commanding sound, joyful swing, and unmatched mastery of the plunger mute, Gordon brings tradition and innovation together in performances that are as soulful as they are electrifying.

Named Jazz Journalists Association “Trombonist of the Year” an unprecedented 15 times, and a six-time DownBeat Critics Poll winner for Best Trombone, Gordon’s artistry has earned him the highest honors in jazz, including the prestigious Louie Award, the International Trombone Association Award, and the ASCAP Foundation Vanguard Award. His work reflects a lifetime of dedication to jazz excellence, education, and cultural legacy.

A prolific artist, Gordon has appeared on over 300 recordings, composed hundreds of works, including the theme for NPR’s All Things Considered, and toured the world as a soloist and bandleader. A former longtime member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, he is also a passionate educator and currently serves as Director of Jazz Studies at Augusta University.
Whether igniting the stage with high-energy swing or offering deeply expressive musical storytelling, Wycliffe Gordon delivers a masterclass in jazz, every time he performs.
