On Tuesday, August 19th at 6:00 PM the World War II Foundation is hosting sailor John DeLeo to discuss his Naval career on the USS Missouri. DeLeo served in the US Navy during the Second World War attached to the USS Missouri. DeLeo is a Rhode Islander who joined the Navy at the age of 17 in 1944. He took part in famous battles such as Iwo Jima and Okinawa as well as witnessing the Japanese surrender upon the Mighty MO. Join the World War II Foundation as we host this serviceman to tell his stories about his time on such a renowned vessel.
John DeLeo will be taking part in the 80th Anniversary of the Signing of the Japanese Surrender on the USS Missouri, which will be taking place in Pearl Harbor later this year.
