(English below)Parallel zum Mahler Festival 2023 des Gewandhausorchesters wird in der benachbarten Moritzbastei das Wunderhorn Festival Musiker*innen, von am Mahler Festival beteiligten Gastorchestern, zu besonderen Konzerten zusammen bringen.
Diese Konzerte werden jeweils nach den offiziellen Konzerten im Gewandhaus als Aftershows in der Moritzbastei von 19. Mai - 22. Mai präsentiert.
Als verbindendes Element der vier Abende des Wunderhorn Festivals werden die Schauspieler Benjamin Mahns-Mardy und Armin Zarbock Lieder aus „Des Knaben Wunderhorn“ rezitieren. Diese Gedichtsammlung war eine große Inspiration für das Oeuvre Mahlers, sowie für die Musik aller Komponisten, die beim Wunderhorn Festival aufgeführt werden.

Parallel to the Mahler Festival 2023 in the Gewandhaus, the Wunderhorn Festival in the neighbouring Moritzbastei brings musicians from guest orchestras appearing at the Mahler Festival together with musicians of the Gewandhausorchester for a series of special concerts.
These concerts will be presented as aftershows in the Moritzbastei directly following the official Mahler Festival concerts in the Gewandhaus from May 19th to May 22nd.
In each of the four aftershows, actors Benjamin Mahns-Mardy and Armin Zarbock will present folk poems from Des Knaben Wunderhorn (“The Boy’s Magic Horn”). This collection of poems had a seminal influence on Mahler’s oeuvre, and verses from the same collection inspired each of the composers featured at the Wunderhorn Festival.
