About this Event
Calling all fairies, princesses, wizards, goblins, goddesses, and dragons; you are cordially invited to a night of magic, whimsy, costume, poetry, and wonder! The Writers Guild of Wayne State University invites you to unleash your inner mythical creatures and ethereal royalty for a fantastical display of delicious delicacies, unforgettable entertainment, fantasy-inspired shenanigans, and the opportunity to perform a poetic piece for your fellow ball goers. We ask that your poetry performances pertain to the following topic: fantasy escapism OR magic. Please keep your work under three minutes.
For all attendees, you are encouraged to embrace your character. Are you an elven King? A renowned sorceress? Or perhaps a mermaid Queen from a faraway kingdom? Please come in costume! In typical formal ball fashion, the Master of Ceremonies will ask for your name and title at the door and your arrival will be announced. We also ask that you participate in our group dance if you are able, comprised of a short string of choreography to be taught at the event.
