About this Event
Join us for the Winchester School of Art Textile Design 2-Day Summer Workshop!
6th & 7th August
During this 2-day workshop you will explore a variety of methods to create different textile samplers, perfect to add to your portfolios!
During day one we will explore making your own fabrics with weave. We will begin by making reusable rectangle loom out of recycled materials, setting it up, planning a woven piece, and creating a woven work using materials such as roving, wool, t-shirt yarn, and other recycled materials. These can be developed into wall hangings, table mats, mini cushions and a variety of other textile items.
Day two will feature different methods to alter plain fabrics. Using lino block printing techniques we will develop a repeat patterned fabric swatch, with stamps you have carved, followed by working back into them with embroidery and painting.
