The 2024 Magnet Showcase is an event that WS/FCS hosts to help students and families explore their educational options.At this event, families will be able to speak with representatives from all 23 magnet schools about their theme and culture. In addition to showcasing our magnet programming, there will also be representatives from other opportunities within the district such as Career and Technical Education Department, Advanced Learning Department, Gear Up, District Interpreters, Crosby Scholars, Transportation, Diverse Learning, Human Resources, Forsyth Technical Community College, and the Career Center.
In years past it has been the Choice and Magnet Showcase, where the district highlighted all schools. This year our main focus is on the Magnet Schools of WS/FCS, focusing on visual and performance art, science, technology, International Baccalaureate, Medical and animal science, engineering and math. Parents and students will have the opportunity to understand all the options and opportunities available to them in our district.
At the Magnet Showcase Speas Global Elementary will have International themed books, flags and artifacts, flag face painting and international crafts. JF Kennedy High School will have a masonry exhibition, Kennedy Clinic, cooking demonstrations and samples, and Virtual Academy information. Konnoak Middle will have a demonstration of Lego Robotics, Sphero robots, and examples of some of their extracurricular activities. We will enjoy performances from Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy's Drum-line, Mineral Springs Visual and Performing Arts Elementary wants to take you on a journey to see "a whole new world" through drama, dance and song. Diggs-Latham Elementary will be performing "Paradi It is a piece written in Reggae Style and will feature the Band and Orchestra students on flute, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, steel drums, violin, viola, cello, and bass. Diggs-Latham dance students are accompanying them, showcasing original choreography by the teacher and students. Reynolds Magnet High School will be performing An Array of the Arts combined performance that includes drumline, a scene from the spring musical, dance, and visual arts. We encourage all families to come out and enjoy a day of hands-on activities, art displays, performances and lots of fun! We hope to see you there!
