Saturday, 25th May, 2024 - 10am to 4pm
An immersive exploration using writing as a means to empower and connect with the mind and the body's lived experience to create writing from the heart.
This will be the second of The Jawbone Collective's 2024 series of workshops where we partner with outstanding poets from the Southwest.
Our co-facilitator for this workshop is Ceri Baker the Current Bard of Exeter. Ceri is a seasoned performer and facilitator, a multiple poetry slam winner and was recently published in her own collection “F*ck It, Pass The Salt!”
This event will take place at the Four Seasons Studio at Othona. A beautiful location on The Jurassic Coast near to Bridport and Burton Bradstock.
We will be weaving words… Using the prompts of Mind, Body and Heart. Those are the starting points. During the day our two facilitators will use a variety of methods that may include a mixture of accessible yoga, breath-work, poetry, and creative writing, exploring writing as a means to empower and connect with our mind’s and the body's lived experience to create writing from our hearts.

Ceri Baker is a performance poet, and the current Bard of Exeter, living in Devon, UK. She writes poetry to be performed, felt and for connection. She facilitates workshops and spaces to support people in raising and finding their voices.
Ceri has performed her work across the UK and is a multiple Slam Competition Winner. She has trained and worked as a performer, artist in residence, writer, workshop leader, Dyslexia and ADHD specialist,Teen Yoga and Thrive Practitioner. The unifying factors in all her work are about engagement, connection and identifying strengths and curiosities in human learning and growth.
Ceri says “I am always growing and exploring new avenues through my constant curiosity regarding human creativity and our capacity for learning and connecting. I'm also very grateful for the sometimes-tumultuous journey my life has taken and the opportunities for personal development and connection that has offered. Change and growth starts with us as individuals and in community, working on ourselves and sending out those ripples.
Inner to outer. The bigger picture will always work itself out."

Everyone has a story to tell, many stories. My own tale grew from illness and a life changing accident. Writing was my lifeline and poetic expression was me... writing myself well."
