About this Event
In this talk, English teacher Dr Carol Atherton will explore how engaging with history - her own and the topics that interest her - has helped her develop an additional career as a writer. Histories, stories and career paths converge and diverge as Carol raises questions about how history changes us and the stories that help make sense of the world around us.
Carol Atherton grew up in Merseyside and read English at Oxford. She qualified as a teacher in 1996 and is currently Head of English at Spalding Grammar School in Lincolnshire. She is the author of Reading Lessons (Fig Tree, 2024) and has written widely on issues related to literary study, secondary teaching and the transition from A level to university.
