Join us at Bards Alley as local kidlit authors Gabriella Aldeman, Alyssa Colman, and Leah Moser lead a presentation and discussion on writing and publishing for kids. Learn about their experiences in the publishing world, how they conceptualized the ideas for their respective books, and hear their recommendations for further reading and resources on the topic.
The event is free to attend and will take place at Bards Alley Bookshop, 110 Church St. in Vienna, VA, at 6:30pm on Thursday, March 20th.
About the authors:
Gabriella Aldeman works with education nonprofits and children's book authors and publishers to translate English content into Spanish. She has a mission to make educational content accessible to Spanish-speaking families and engage readers with rhymes, alliterations, and worlds of wonder. She also writes for young people. She is the author of picture books Paula's Patches and Squawk of Spanish.
Alyssa Colman is the author of The Tarnished Garden and The Gilded Girl, which won the 2021 Northern Lights Book Award for middle grade fantasy. Publishers Weekly called the story “a thoughtful and imaginative exploration of friendship, internal change, and perseverance” in a starred review. She is also the author of upcoming middle grade novel Where Only Storms Grow.
Leah Moser is a children’s book author living in Northern Virginia. With degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology, Leah has spent years as a classroom teacher. She loves sharing her passion for picture books with her husband, three daughters, dog, and readers of all ages--even those who are kids at heart. I Am a Thundercloud is her debut book.
