Writers Read is a monthly opportunity for an audience to come and listen to local writers in an intimate environment. Each second Wednesday of the month, three writers read from their work followed by time for the audience to join with the writers for a talkback. These discussions have been eye opening, touching, and inspiring. Audiences have left the venue ready to write. This series is facilitated by Lindy Whiton, a member of LAVA, and pulls from several different communities of writers throughout the local area. We are extremely lucky to draw from an abundance of talent.
Joshua Michael Stewart is the author of Break Every String, The Bastard Children of Dharma Bums, and Love Something. His work has appeared in Modern Haiku, Massachusetts Review, Brilliant Corners, New Flash Fiction Review, and many others. He lives in Ware, Massachusetts.
Alexandra Risley Schroeder writes about nature as inspiration, metaphor and cautionary tale. She has work forthcoming in EcoTheo Review and is recently published in Poetry Northwest, the tide rises, the tide falls, and Naugatuck Review. A poem was nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
Karen Warinsky is the author of three collections: Gold in Autumn (2020) Sunrise Ruby (2022 Human Error Publishing), and Dining with War (2023 Alien Buddha Press). She is a 2023 Best of the Net nominee and a former finalist of the Montreal International Poetry Contest. She coordinates Poets at Large, a group that performs spoken word in MA and CT. https://karenwarinskypoetry.wordpress.com
