About this Event
This one-hour workshop invites participants to use creative writing as a tool for exploration and expression.
Together, we’ll move through quick writing prompts inspired by art, poetry, music, and more—designed to spark ideas without pressure or judgment.
Participants will then choose one piece to expand, experimenting with creative techniques like dialogue, sensory detail, or time shifts. Sharing is always optional, and the emphasis is on curiosity, community, and the joy of discovery. This is a no-pressure workshop!
No prior writing experience needed—just bring yourself, your voice, and an openness to create.
Each participant will receive a journal to write in and take home.
This workshop is interactive! Expect to move around the space as we "build" our journals.
About the host:
Sarah Bland is an educator, writer, and wellness advocate with over a decade of teaching experience in diverse classroom settings. She holds two degrees in English, one with an emphasis on Teaching Writing from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and is a certified mindfulness meditation instructor. She has dedicated her career to helping students and fellow educators cultivate creativity, reflection, and personal growth.
Sarah integrates mindfulness and holistic wellness practices into her writing workshops, helping participants slow down, tune into their inner voice, and approach writing with focus and intention. Her approach supports both the creative process and personal growth, creating a space where writers feel encouraged, centered, and inspired.
Through her workshops, Sarah guides writers to connect with their unique voices, build consistent writing habits, and gain the confidence to share their work with clarity and purpose—all while cultivating calm, awareness, and presence at every step of the journey.
