Save the Date: Come Write on the Lake. Morning Write-In with Highland Park Poet Laureate and Special Guest, poet Catherine Barnett, whose most recent collection was just named one of Publisher's Weekly's five best books of poetry in 2024. Friday, Nov 15th,10am - 12pm. Rosewood Interpretive Center.
We’ll listen to some poems from Catherine Barnett's new collection, then free-write in response to conversation and suggested prompts. Please bring pen and paper. Signed books will be available for sale.
is the author of four poetry collections, including Solutions for the Problem of Bodies in Space (which Publishers Weekly named one of the five best books of poetry in 2024), and Human Hours (Believer Book Award, NYT "Best Poetry of 2018" selection). A Guggenheim fellow, she received a 2022 Arts and Letters Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Her work has been published in the New Yorker, The NY Review of Books, The Yale Review, The Nation, Harper’s, and elsewhere. She teaches in NYU's MFA Program and works as an independent editor.
is the inaugural Highland Park Poet Laureate. Her work appears in Poetry, The Iowa Review, The Sewanee Review, the Chicago Tribune, and elsewhere. She was named a 2024 National Poetry Series Finalist and Prairie Schooner Raz-Shumaker Book Prize Finalist. Her nonfiction was “Notable” in The Best American Essays 2022 and 2023.
