About this Event
Come write surrounded by history at the Nashua Historical Society! The Nashua Historical Society is celebrating writing by inviting writers to join us at the Florence H. Speare Memorial Museum for a day of writing on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Whether staying for the day or stopping in for a paragraph, enjoy the historic ambiance with your current writing project.
Whether starting your first short story or finishing your tenth book, tackling a personal challenge or participating in NaNoWriMo, all are invited to write surrounded by the historic exhibits at the Nashua Historical Society. Set up for a writing session next to a nineteenth-century fire engine, in the new World War II exhibit, or surrounded by turn-of-the-nineteenth-century photography, twentieth-century hats, or tools made by the company rumored to have manufactured the axe allegedly used by Lizzie Borden.
A temporary exhibit on writing and reading will feature historic writing artifacts, local authors, and old books. Participants are welcome to use a cyclopedia and dictionaries dating back to the nineteenth century. In addition, those interested in touring the historic Abbot-Spalding House Museum and the 1940s fashion exhibit currently on view there may participate in a free tour at either 11:00 am or 1:30 pm. Light refreshments will be provided. Bring your own lunch. Food and drink are allowed in limited areas. Free parking is available behind the Florence H. Speare Memorial Museum. Join us for some quality writing time in a unique environment where the ancient art of storytelling is brought to life!
