About this Event
We invite you to our extra special festive Sunday Assembly, taking place at the later date of Sunday 8th December at 10:45am for an 11am start. There’ll be the chance to stay a bit longer too, to enjoy a bring and share lunch. This is a great assembly to bring along friends, family and children that don’t normally attend; all are welcome!
Things will look a bit different this month as we put our regular running order to one side to make way for the festivities…
Secret Santa book swap:
Participation is easy; wrap up and bring along a book to add to Santa’s sack; it can be one you’ve already read or one you buy (from a charity shop if you can!). Then choose a book gift to take home with you.
Write a letter, change a life:
One of our members, Kirstie, will briefly introduce us to Amnesty International’s Write for Rights campaign, which identifies people around the world whose human rights have been violated. There’ll be the opportunity to write and send a card, letter or even create some artwork if you wish, to one of these people, to show support and solidarity. All materials will be provided.
Quiz:
Fiona will be leading an interactive quiz, with prizes for the winning team!
Bring and Share lunch:
Please bring along a food or drink contribution if you can and let’s all enjoy a buffet style lunch together.
Music Playlist:
Submit your song suggestions for our background playlist and we might even choose one or two for a singalong: Add a song to the playlist.
There’ll also be lots of time for the usual highlights of community, conversation and singing. We hope you can make this one to celebrate the start of the season together.
See you there!
Missed last month’s assembly?
We were joined by several members of Living Rent, Scotland’s tenant union. Finn Ball gave an inspiring overview of the work that Living Rent do, and about some of their most successful local and national campaigns; from securing housing repairs for individuals to lobbying the Scottish Government to support rent controls. Find out more about their work and how to join them on the Living Rent website.--
