About this event:
In this 90 minute workshop, I will help your child tune in to the beautiful urban surroundings of Green Lake Park in Seattle. Using Montessori principles and hands-on experiential learning, we will slow down and turn up the volume of each of our senses to closely observe and notice the details of nature. In my many years of working with children, I have found when you help them really pay attention to nature, so many ordinary things become magical. Story, sensory tools and interactive creations will all be a part of our adventure, helping your child to de-stress and tune in to the world around them.
The role of the parent in this workshop is to be the curious observer. Your child will be invited to share their findings and feelings with you, and you get to be the enthusiastic student. You’re encouraged to ask a lot of questions and allow them to share the magic they’re experiencing through this process. Your presence will help your child feel safe in exploring deeply and supported in their own curiosity and self expression.
About Your Instructor:
Leetah Stackhouse is a Montessori educator with 25 years of delighting children’s hearts. She loves helping children learn to refine their senses and develop their powerful skills of observation through hands-on learning and returning to nature. Her work supports children to respect their environment, helping them to become grounded and resilient citizens of the world.
What you need to know:
Who is this for? Children ages 7-11 and their parent/guardian
When? Saturday, September 25th, 2021 at 10:30am
Rain or shine
What to wear and bring:- Dress in weather appropriate clothing
- Wear comfortable walking shoes
- Wear sunscreen if needed
- Bring a small backpack with a water bottle and small snack
- Bring a small journal and writing utensil
Meeting Instructions:
We'll meet at the Green Lake Wading Pool Area at 10:30. Please arrive a few minutes early to ensure we begin on time. There are bathrooms at the pool area if required before we begin.
Covid Protocol:
In this period of separation and division, it’s important to show up in the way that is most comfortable for you, and respectful of the others in the group. Your vaccination status won’t be questioned, but we do ask that you kindly wear a mask.
