Klinker Brick Winery was established in Lodi California in 2000 by the Felten family who have been grape growers in the region since the late 1800s owning some of the world's oldest Zinfandel vines. The winery's name comes from the unique dense and dark "klinker" bricks which mirror the style of their dark dense and heavy red wines particularly their acclaimed Old Vine Zinfandel. Klinker Brick focuses on Zinfandel and Syrah drawing from the Lodi appellation's warm climate and deep sandy loam soils that promote the growth of high-quality old-vine grapes
The Felten family are witnesses to the ascendancy of Lodi beginning in the Gold Rush days of 1800's establishment of first commercial cooperative 1970 transitioning from larger bulk styled wines to finessing the varietals and vineyards highlighting their old vine stock and understanding the variety of soil types creating sub AVAs within their Lodi AVA
