This hands-on workshop will guide you step-by-step to build a cutting board! We'll learn this fun skill and how to safety use woodshop tools

No prior experience needed for this course, all supplies and materials are provided. Partcipants will be introduced to each machine, provided operational overview, safety considerations, and have hands-on experience.

During this 4-hour workshop learn how to build your own custom hardwood cutting board. I will expertly guide you as you learn how to safely use a variety of essential wood shop tools. You will gain practical skills in milling rough lumber, edge-gluing boards, clamping, sanding, and applying a food-safe finish. We will also cut a single "weave", adding a mind-boggling detail to your boards. Willing partners can swap half their board to take the second glue-up to the next level!

By the end of the workshop, you'll proudly take home a beautiful board you made yourself.

Please wear comfortable well-fitted clothing, close-toed shoes, put your hair up, and be prepared to get a little dirty :)

-- Intermediate joinery such as sliding dovetails and the mortise and tenon.
-- Advanced joinery such as handcut dovetails. This course will focus on layout, cutting pins and tails for a perfect fit... and fixing gaps post-mortem.
-- Advanced topics such as bending on a hot iron and using multi-part or structural forms to build laminations.

This 4-hour course will cover topics such as:

Selecting and preparing hardwood
Milling hardwood
Using the table saw for rip and cross cuts
Gluing and clamping techniques
Using the bandsaw to create a weave!
Edge detail using a router table
Sanding and finishing for a polished look

You will walk away with ready-to-use hardwood cutting board that you built!
