Stephen Jones, Fresh Egg
Stephen started his career as a bookseller in a busy branch of Waterstones, supervising the order section and advising on a branch-wide strategy for customer ordering. He followed books into a library career, first at a legal library in the City and then the Research Library at the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). During this period, he helped convert the library catalogue into an online, user-accessible, digital format and integrate with the collection held by the National Library for the Blind, resulting in the largest accessible catalogue of research material on blindness in Europe.
Moving into publishing, Stephen then became web marketing manager at Elsevier Health Sciences, managing the B2C and B2B websites for EMEA and the email marketing activity conducted from the UK and Amsterdam. He co-managed the revision and build of the main customer-facing website, helped spearhead the development of health sciences E-books, and gained a reputation for rather irreverent presentations at sales meetings and company digital summits.
Looking to expand his digital experience, he then moved into affiliate marketing and subsequently wholesale email marketing, managing a monthly inventory of around 40 million addresses, before joining Fresh Egg’s SEO department in 2010. Promoted to SEO Director in 2024, he has worked across various clients in the financial, charity, retail, employment and education sectors, including those with a multinational site presence. As a technical specialist, he works extensively onsite audits and assessments, migrations and ongoing organic SEO strategies.
