Conflict, polarization, division are big words in the zeitgeist these days. There are many who say if we disagree, then we must divide. But despite all of the divisions inside and outside of church, Jesus' prayer was that we would be one. Paul declares that we are one in Christ. When we make a practice of centering Jesus Christ in our lives we are able to find ways to love those we disagree with, those who see things differently, those who have different experiences and values. A shared committment to the God who is love gives us the strength to remain united even when so much is pushing us to divide.
