Area fiber artists will come together to do some public knitting at the Former Governors’ Mansion State Historic Site on Saturday, June 10, from noon to 4 p.m. The mansion is located at 320 East Avenue B in Bismarck.
The get together is part of an international event called World-Wide Knit in Public Day (WWKiP). It provides an opportunity for like-minded crafters to share techniques, show off their skills, and introduce knitting to the interested.
Knitters, crocheters, spinners, and other fiber artists are welcome to participate and enjoy a day of socializing and crafting.
The gathering will be held on the east lawn and participates are asked to bring their own lawn chair or blanket. In the event of inclement weather chairs will be set up inside the mansion for participants.
WWKiP Day began in 2005 as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. It’s the largest knitter-run event in the world with each local gathering organized by volunteers.
