Visit one of the most extensive galleries of its kind at the World Street Painting, Route 66 installation at Schifferdecker Park in Joplin, Missouri. Ten pieces of 3D interactive art can be viewed at the park. The artwork is located next to the Joplin History & Mineral Museum at 504 S. Schifferdecker Avenue in Schifferdecker Park. The park is open from 7 am to 11 pm. The gallery is free and open to the public.
Here is how it works! Someone places themselves upon the artwork created by the artist. Through a camera lens, that person and the art become one.
Visit Joplin, the city’s tourism marketing effort, hosted a second year of street painting through a partnership with the Netherlands-based World Street Painting Foundation.
The partnership was formed to create, develop, and hold a one-of-a-kind Route 66 centennial celebration in the form of 3D street painting festivals.
In addition to the three existing pieces at the Cornell Complex, creations from 10 artists were added at Schifferdecker Park in 2025, and 20 more will be added in 2026. In the end, 33 pieces will become the world’s largest collection of 3D street paintings in one community. The artwork will be preserved through 2027, the end of Route 66 centennial celebrations.
