Join Ōwhango Alive to celebrate World Rivers Day with hands-on mahi for our awa and a special guest talk.• 10:00 – Planting meet point: Whakapapa River Bridge, Ōhinetonga Scenic Reserve, Ōwhango
• 11:00 – Guest talk venue: Ōwhango Domain Pavilion
What to bring: Sturdy footwear/gumboots, weather-appropriate clothing, water bottle, gardening gloves, and a spade if you have one. Whānau-friendly; children welcome with supervision.
We’ll start at 10:00am with a short welcome/karakia at the Whakapapa River bridge, then plant 130 native trees to help restore the river margins.
At 11:00am, head up to the Ōwhango Domain Pavilion for our guest speaker Tyler Jarman, Biodiversity Advisor, Horizons Regional Council, sharing insights on local biodiversity and river health.
