Join documentary photographer and World Press Photo Contest jury member, Davina Jogi and photographer, Dr Toni Wilkinson from Curtin University, as they discuss photojournalism.
This is a special opportunity to learn about what goes on behind the scenes of the World Press Photo Contest and hear more about some of the images on display in the exhibition at the State Library. Davina and Toni will speak about issues related to representation in photojournalism and how this is reflected in the World Press Photo Contest, exhibition and beyond.
Davina Jogi is a documentary photographer from Harare, Zimbabwe currently based in Southwest Australia, where she is pursuing a PhD at Curtin University. In 2019, Davina was a jury member for the ‘News and Documentary’ section of the World Press Photo Contest, and the jury chair for the 2021 ‘Contemporary Issues’ section.
Dr Toni Wilkinson is a photographer and lecturer based in Perth and is represented by Art Collective WA. She is coordinator of Photography and Illustration at the School of Design and Built Environment, Faculty of Humanities, Curtin University in Western Australia.
