About this Event
As highlighted by the CDC, NIH, and NAMI, mental-health challenges in our country have reached urgent levels. Today, more than 1 in 5 U.S. adults lives with a mental-health condition, and over 55% of those with serious mental illness receive no treatment at all—most often because they simply cannot afford it. Depression has risen sharply, affecting 13% of Americans, and nearly 90% of those struggling say their symptoms interfere with daily functioning at home, work, or school.
These numbers reflect a growing crisis that is touching every neighborhood, every workplace, and every family. World Meditation Day offers a significant opportunity for our communities to come together, strengthen resilience, and provide an accessible, evidence-based tool to support healing and wellbeing for all.
This worldwide event will take place on December 21, 2025, with cities across the globe joining in a synchronized Global Meditation for Peace.
Here in Raleigh, we are bringing together civic leaders, cultural institutions, universities and community organizations to create a powerful moment of unity.
