Workspace Safety: Intro to Routing

This course is for anyone who wants to gain a solid understanding of how to use a router table and handheld routers.
About this Event

In this workshop, students learn how to safely and effectively use a router table and router templates to create a modern hardwood valet tray. The class introduces precision routing techniques for shaping and trimming workpieces while reinforcing setup, bit selection, and safe operation practices.

Each participant receives a pre-cut hardwood blank (cherry, walnut, or maple) and a routing template to guide the process. By the end of the session, students leave with a completed valet tray and a solid understanding of the router’s versatility for shaping and detail work.

This is a required course for anyone who wants to use the above tools in our WorkSpace.

Please dress appropriately for working in a woodshop: closed-toe shoes, hair tied in the back, and no loose clothing. It's important to be on time for this workshop as this is a safety course and all information is important. Late arrivals may not be able to join.

For more information on our WorkSpace and when you can use it to work on your projects, check out our webpage.
