We are excited to bring Norberto "Betto" Herrera to RVA for a day of workshops. Betto has a wealth of knowledge and we look forward to him sharing it with the Richmond dance community. Workshop: Movement and Control (1 hour)

Time: 10:00-11:00 AM

This class will use drills to help dancers enhance control of their dance motor skills. Dancers will learn how micro-movements develop into macro-movements while learning the essential movements like Muelleo, undulation, and counter-body motion.
Workshop: Musicality (1.5 hours)
Date: February 7, 2026
Time: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Cost: $30
During this workshop, Betto will share some important information about the different rhythmical patterns that together are part of this music known as Salsa. Dancers will learn how to easily understand each rhythmical pattern, and to apply these patterns to dance in real time. No musical experience is necessary to take this workshop, and yes... This IS a dance class!
LUNCH - 12:30 - 2:00 PM (1.5 hours) - Lunch and Q&A with Betto
We will head downstairs to Coalescence Coffee Company at the lunch break. If you want to join us, Betto will be available for questions during the lunch break. He loves sharing his knowledge, the history, and the culture behind this dance. *Please note lunch is on your own as far as cost. There will be an option to order food ahead of time from the cafe for it to be ready to pick up at the lunch break.
Workshop: Leading and Following Connection (1.5 hours)

Cost: $30
Dancers will learn how to effectively communicate with a partner through drills designed to enhance adaptability, improve reaction time, balance and improvisational skills. This is not a partner-work class, it's a partnering class.
