A special 2-part workshop exploring how Cuban movement, Son rhythm, Casino and Salsa On2 are all connected through the same music — expressed in different ways.
Starting from the streets and energy of Cuba, we’ll dive into the grounded movement, connection, weight transfer and rhythmic flow that make Casino feel alive and effortless. Through simple dance vocabulary and musical concepts, you’ll learn how to create your own combinations naturally instead of memorising patterns.
Then we travel to New York — where Son and Cha Cha Cha rhythms helped shape the creation of Salsa On2. Using music and instruments as our guide, we’ll explore timing, phrasing, flow and musical expression through clean, comfortable partnerwork you can immediately use on the social floor.
Whether you dance Cuban Style, Salsa On1, or On2 — this workshop is designed to help you hear the music differently and express yourself with more confidence and versatility.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:
Jason “Mambojays” is a Kuala Lumpur based Salsa and Latin dance instructor with over 20 years of experience in the dance scene. Recognised for his energetic and engaging teaching style, he focuses on helping students develop strong technique, musicality, connection, and confidence on the dance floor. Passionate about continuous growth and learning, Jason brings together social dance culture that is approachable and enjoyable for dancers of all levels.
Sue's relationship with dance led her to discover Latin Ballroom and eventually Cuban Salsa in Melbourne in 2001, where she trained at Cuban Dance Academy. While Cuban Salsa remains close to her heart, Sue believes true social dancing comes from embracing different styles, different people, and meaningful connections.
