Por ocasião do 50.º Aniversário das Relações Bilaterais Índia–Portugal, Upāyana Project tem o prazer de organizar dois workshops intensivos especiais, que acontecem na Comunidade Hindu de Portugal.
Fazem parte do evento Sauhārda – Harmony, organizado pelo Projeto Upāyana com o apoio da Embaixada da Índia em Portugal, do Centro de Estudos Indianos da FLUL e da Comunidade Hindu de Portugal. O programa inclui também uma conferência internacional e duas palestras.
Os nossos distintos convidados da Jain University of Bangalore, Índia, são especialistas em vários aspetos das artes clássicas indianas, pelo que esta é uma oportunidade única para aprender diretamente com artistas conceituados e obter uma visão autêntica destas ricas tradições artísticas.

Workshop de Música Clássica Indiana
10h00 - 12h30, Sala de Dança (total 5h)
Sugnan Dani e Vandana Rani irão introduzir os fundamentos da Música Clássica Indiana, abrangendo as tradições Hindustani (do Norte) e Carnática (do Sul).
O workshop inclui a identificação de raga e tala, a compreensão da notação, e o desenvolvimento do shruti e do ritmo, com exemplos audiovisuais e demonstrações ao vivo.
Esta sessão oferece uma oportunidade única para descobrir a rica teoria e prática da Música Clássica Indiana, com insights de artistas experientes e apaixonados por partilhar estas tradições intemporais.

Workshop de Dança Bharatanatyam
14h30 - 17h00, Sala de Yoga (total 5h)
A Dra. Vidya Rao e Poornima Gururaja conduzirão uma inspiradora introdução ao Bharatanatyam, uma das mais reverenciadas formas de dança clássica da Índia.
Os participantes aprenderão os passos fundamentais (adavus), os gestos das mãos (hastas) e como esses elementos se entrelaçam em pequenas coreografias. Combinando teoria e prática, a sessão oferecerá insights sobre a história, o simbolismo e a disciplina que moldam a rica tradição do Bharatanatyam.
Guiados por duas artistas e pesquisadoras de relevo, os participantes terão uma oportunidade única de experimentar a graça e a profundidade expressiva desta arte intemporal, num ambiente acessível e interativo.
A seguir ao workshop no dia 12 haverá uma performance de entrada gratuita, das 17h30 às 18h15 na mesma sala.

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of India–Portugal Bilateral Relations, the Upāyana Project is pleased to organize two special intensive workshops, taking place at the Hindu Community of Portugal.
These workshops are part of the event Sauhārda – Harmony, organized by the Upāyana Project with the support of the Embassy of India in Portugal, the Centre for Indian Studies at the University of Lisbon, and the Hindu Community of Portugal.
The program also includes an international conference and two lectures.
Our distinguished guests from Jain University in Bangalore, India, are specialists in various aspects of Indian classical arts, making this a unique opportunity to learn directly from renowned artists and gain authentic insight into these rich artistic traditions.
Indian Classical Music Workshop
10am - 12.30pm, Dance Room (total 5h)
Sugnan Dani and Vandana Rani will introduce the fundamentals of Indian Classical Music, covering both Hindustani and Carnatic traditions.
The workshop includes identifying raga and tala, understanding notation, and developing shruti and rhythm, with audio-visual examples and live demonstrations. This session offers a unique opportunity to discover the rich theory and practice of Indian Classical Music with insights from experienced artists passionate about sharing these timeless traditions.

Bharatanatyam Dance Workshop
2.30pm - 5pm, Yoga Room (total 5h)
Dr. Vidya Rao and Poornima Gururaja will lead an inspiring introduction to Bharatanatyam, one of India’s most revered classical dance forms.
Participants will learn foundational steps (adavus), hand gestures (hastas), and how these elements are woven together in short choreographed pieces. Combining theory and practice, the session will offer insights into the history, symbolism, and discipline that shape Bharatanatyam’s rich tradition. Guided by two accomplished artists and researchers - participants will have a unique opportunity to experience the grace and expressive depth of this timeless art form in an accessible and interactive setting.
The workshop will be followed by a free performance on the 12th of October, from 5.30pm-6.15pm in the same room
