Oisín Mac Diarmada: Int/Adv Sligo Style Fiddle

Join Oisín Mac Diarmada one of the worlds leading experts in Sligo music for an in-depth workshop on what makes Sligo style fiddle playing unique. This workshop will focus on tunes from county Sligo along with bowing patterns and ornaments that combine to make the Sligo sound. Attendees will also learn about other famous Sligo fiddle players and some of the history of Sligo style music and how it has shaped modern traditional Irish music today.

Join Daithí Gormley for a workshop on tunes from county Sligo and the history behind them. Daithí Gormley is widely regarded as one of the finest Button Accordion players of his generation. Steeped in the rich musical heritage of his native county Sligo his remarkably accomplished debut album ‘Fiddling without a Bow – Irish Traditional Music on Button Accordion’ brings an expressive mix of old and new tunes played with great attention to detail and in a style that reflects his love of Sligo fiddle music in particular.
Samantha Harvey: Intro to Sean Nós Irish Dance

Join Samantha for an exciting workshop on Sean Nós dace! Sean Nós means 'old way', harking back to the kind of dancing people did years ago in the kitchen: a much looser, more relaxed style, where the emphasis was on moving in sync to the music. The dancing style is close to the floor and very low-key. This is not the Irish step dancing of Riverdance - Sean Nós dancing is relaxed, accessible for all ages and fun! (no special footwear needed)
