What is our place in a city?
Are our voices being heard of?
What can we do about it?
In this zine workshop, we try to bring our practice to the streets! Inspired by Henri Lefebvre’s theories and the ways that people are (re)claiming their place in hostile environments, we use zinemaking as a tool for self expression in the public space.
Plan:
We start indoors and after a brief introduction to zine culture, and some sharing over our experiences with public space activities, each of us takes time to create an 8-page mini zine.
Our next step will be to individually try and expose our art in the space around Medika, hiding zines in the public space, offering them to strangers, or anything that feels good at the moment.
In the end, we gather to share how we felt and give feedback.
Materials and tools: Will be provided, but anyone who has any favorite pens to use, or an extra pair of scissors, you’re free to bring anything that feels comfortable!
