Saturday Classes: 1 PM to 5 PM
Bountiful Davis Art Center
90 N Main St, Bountiful, UT 84010
Located on historic Main Street in Bountiful, the Bountiful Davis Art Center is where Utah history and contemporary art meet. Remodeled from the first grocery store in town to an art gallery, they feature beautifully restored 100+ yr old wood floors, a stage, and plenty of art from local artists all over the valley. January will feature a floral art theme, so come dance surrounded by floral art in an art gallery!
Dance to the Tunes of Columbia Jones
As a Jack-of-all-trades, Columbia has done it all. He was a 2 time finalist for the Telluride Solo Blues Challenge, a nationally touring Folk artist, and the drummer for a touring Americana band. Today, Columbia continues to spread his talents across multiple disciplines, all of which hinge on a deep love for the Blues.
Jones’ songs are earnest reflections of the everyday American experience paired with a sound that blends the best elements of Americana, Folk, Country, and Blues. His versatility as a musician is evident in the wide range of instruments and musical styles covered in his studio recordings, as well as onstage his on-stage performance, where gentle acoustic ballads can easily shift to a lively on-stage folk frenzy. Spectators of the his One Man Band can expect to see him perform on guitar while kicking a bass drum, foot tambourine, and some live looping. With the band, they serve up originals and covers peppered with lots of improvisation.
Who is Kenneth Shipp?
Kenneth Shipp hails from St. Louis, MO as an instructor who grew up dancing hip-hop and DJing breaking comps before jumping into blues. He has spent the past few years passionately studying the family of blues idioms, incorporating his nerdy personality along the way. Kenneth’s life experiences inform his dancing and teaching style so that students walk away with a better historical and contextual understanding. With every class and practice, he’ll encourage you to approach social dancing with coolness, relaxation, or in other words “Chill The F$%& Out.” When he’s not dancing, you can likely find him ranting about the latest blockbuster movie, game, or nerd convention, or desperately trying to dismantle toxic institutions.
