About this Event

Dance Victoria welcomes Residency Artist Cora Kozaris to DV Studios who will use her time with us to develop the choreography for her latest short film. As part of her residency, Cora will be offering a free contemporary dance workshop in which she will teach an excerpt of her choreography. Please arrive at 10:15am for sign-in

This workshop will include a gentle warm-up and a breakdown of the excerpt. Emotive in nature, the choreography will act as a template while offering individuals the space to explore their creative nuances, feelings, and choices that best support their unique expression.

Based in Vancouver, Cora Kozaris is a Toronto-born dance artist and choreographer. Cora’s artistic practice uses movement to illuminate universal human experiences. She uses dance to investigate how the body reacts in its attempts to reconcile difficult experiences such as trauma and loss. Her versatility and unique identifiable style saw her named one of the top choreographers making waves by Narcity Toronto. Carné I and Carné II, her full-length live shows, received accolades nationally and prompted a feature on CBC entitled Heartbreak to Art. Cora is thrilled to participate in the Dance Victoria residency program for the creation process of her latest short film.

Class level: int/adv

There will be photos taken during the workshop. A photo release form will be available to sign. It is NOT mandatory to consent to photos in order to participate. If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must sign photo release form.
Dance Victoria’s studio programs are made possible with generous support from Studio Creation & Residencies Sponsors DAU Studio and JB Lawyers. Our Residency program receives funding from RBC Emerging Artists and the Victoria Foundation’s Community Grants program.
