Are you interested in cultivating a deeper connection to the natural world around you?
Join CPAWS Manitoba Environmental Educator Carly Gray as she shares her journey into exploring and identifying native Manitoba plants and trees. During this workshop, participants will explore and practice using free apps, field guides, and other tools to begin their journey into tree identification.
This interactive workshop is designed for beginners wanting to dip their toes into naming and learning more about native trees and plants. There will be movement within an area to practice our identification skills.
All bodies and all levels of experience are welcome in this loving and inclusive space.
Event Feedback:
"Our facilitator made all the difference to the tree identification workshop; her enthusiasm and joy at being in nature was infectious! At the same time, she shared her personal and profound understanding of the relationship between us and trees. I loved it!"
"I can't wait to go out on an outing with my children telling them what I learnt about the trees and nature!"
"It was a lovely event, on a lovely evening in a lovely location. Our facilitator absolutely sparkled with enthusiasm and love for nature. She was quite knowledgeable and engaging, yet humble. I learned a lot about identifying our native tree species. The whole event had a theme of encouraging our individual relationship to nature - which I truly appreciated. I will definitely attend some future events. Thank you!"
"I absolutely loved this workshop. Carly Gray is a wonderful facilitator who makes everyone feel welcome and valued. She listens to people's ideas and really elevates everyone's enthusiasm for learning. Her knowledge about local tree and plant species is only surpassed by her knowledge of how to make an event fun, and interesting, and the spark of making you want to learn more, more, more! I had a great time!"

About the CPAWS Manitoba Nature Club

Safety Protocols
CPAWS Manitoba takes the safety of all program participants seriously.
All CPAWS Manitoba staff members have cleared a criminal record and vulnerable sector background check with the Winnipeg Police Department. We adhere to all public health recommendations and guidelines.
CPAWS policy requires that at least one person leading programming that may involve children must be certified in first aid. This applies to staff or to volunteers.
Weather & Cancellation Policy
We try not to let the weather stop us from getting outside. With the right gear, you can have a great time in most weather conditions.
That being said, safety must always be our top priority. We can’t be outside in a thunderstorm and may need to cancel if roads are hazardous.
Weather forecasts are notoriously unreliable. While we will do our best to monitor and make good judgment calls, there will be times when we decide to cancel and the skies clear and other days when a storm or high winds pop up unexpectedly.
We’ll send out an e-mail alert the day before an event letting registrants know if there’s a good chance we need to cancel. We will check the forecast again a few hours before the event to determine if we can try to go ahead.
