Whether you're just learning how to throw a jar, or you're a veteran maker looking to refine your teapots, making a quality lid is an essential part of the process. In this workshop students will learn:· How to throw a vessel that is properly suited for a lid.
· 6 different ways to create lids for any ceramic vessel.
· How to use calipers to make lids that fit precisely.
· The impact of clay shrinkage on the measuring process.
· Basics of tap centering and water sealing to trim vessels and lids.
· Using silicon carbide to refine lids post firing.
Supplies will be provided, but bring a caliper if you have one!
