Strappado’s can be tied in many different ways, depending on the purpose. From quick & dirty hojoojutsu style to elaborate, well-constructed ones that are suitable for suspension.
On Saturday Asiana & Door will teach not only several different ones, but will also show how to tie them on different body types and share some tips and tricks to make it easier to tie them. Tying a well-constructed strappado is not a beginner’s tie. The workshop on Saturday is a floorwork one. The focus is mostly on technique and safety for both the rope top and model, but we’ll also focus on aesthetics and application.
On Sunday the workshop continues with the introduction of suspension lines. We’ll take it one notch up, adding the dimension of semi-suspension. You will tie on both single point and bamboo.
Adding suspension lines to any floor tie often makes it more interesting and challenging. Doing this to the already challenging position of strappado even more so. Door & Asiana love these kind of ties as they offer opportunities for play, suffering & beautiful positions. The possibilities are endless.
You will be offered different ways of attaching suspension lines to create more intense experiences while at the same time doing it as safely as possible.
There will be also a performance on Saturday evening – you can register to Shibari Night.
Requirements
This workshop will be challenging for both, especially for the model, as the position is not an easy one to maintain. The rope top and model need to be experienced and have tied together recently, preferably on a regular basis. You have good communication skills.
The level is intermediate+ on Saturday and Intermediate+/advanced on Sunday.
About Asiana & Door
Asiana and Door just love strappado’s. For Asiana it’s both about the skill of tying them and the aesthetic of the shape of the strappado that appeal so much to her. At the same time making Door suffer is an added bonus. Door just loves how they make her feel! With this workshop they want to share this love for strappado’s with you.
Asiana started tying over 15 years ago. She’s the founder of RopeLounge in Amsterdam. She studied with numerous (Japanese) teachers. In 2017 she spent three months in Japan to further her knowledge of kinbaku and Japanese culture. Kinbaku is her passion and she loves sharing her knowledge.
Door is a kinbaku model and a connoisseur of pain, especially emotional. She loves how kinbaku emphasises and fetishises the beauty of the struggle, the suffering and the resignation, and most importantly, the sacrifice the model makes for their rope top.
