The salted paper process, also known as “salt printing,” is one of the first photographicprocesses. The method incorporates basic materials such as salt and gelatin with light
sensitive silver salts to create soft brown images characteristic of early photographic
prints.
During this workshop, participants will be guided through the various options for sizing
paper, preparing digital negatives, and making prints using the salt printing process. At
the conclusion of this workshop, students will come away with a selection of their own salt prints and will also be provided with written instructions, a salted paper printing supply list, and a digital curve file for printing salt negatives.
