|| WHAT IS WHITE VOICE? ||White voice (open / full / natural voice) is a contemporary name for a traditional singing style. This natural technique of singing is based on an open throat and free volume with a bright color, close to a controlled screaming or calling. A characteristic feature of this kind of voice is its brightness, clarity or intensity.
It had been practiced since ancient times among the rural population in Central and Eastern Europe. Loud and clear singing originates from practicing in the open air while working in the field.
|| WHAT IF SOMEONE CANNOT SING? ||
Many of us have been told in childhood:
“There’s never been a musical hearing in our family. You’d no one to inherit the talent from.”
“You can’t sing, so please stop it.”
“You sound horrible, don’t even try...”
Vocal cords are muscles. Each muscle can be trained and strengthened. To stop singing is the worse you can do!
If you would like to sing, you simply start. You can sing alone, but in the group you will not have a chance to be too judgemental :-)
|| WHY IT IS RELEVANT TO SING IN A GROUP? ||
Nowadays, one of the biggest problems causing many troubles in our mental health is a feeling alone, misunderstood or abandoned. And no wonder - humans were never as isolated as they are now! Community activities have almost completely disappeared from our everyday lives.
But it is so beautiful to build a sound together. To create music in a group!
In addition - a long, loud, strong voice of a group was always believed to have magical powers. So let’s do some magic!
|| WHO WILL LEAD THE WORKSHOP? ||
Dana Račková is a singer and singing lecturer originally from rural place in Slovakia, nowadays living in Prague. She is officially engaged in white voice singing for 15 years, she performs mostly Ukrainian folklore all over the Europe.
“It can be said without exaggeration that it is the best performance of Ukrainian folk songs in our country.” (R. L. Šindlerová, National Museum in Prague)
Although she is considered as one of the best white voice singers in Czechia, she herself claims to have no special talent or ability: “I just sing as it feels natural for me.”

|| WHY TO ATTEND? ||
Because Slavic polyphonic singing is beautiful, powerful, encouraging, healing and very natural for our culture. And it is so much fun!
|| HOW MUCH €? ||
The price of the workshop is 150 € for 2,5 days.
However, the lecturer believes singing is not only for those who can afford it. That is why the registration fee is a scale between 80 – 150 €.
We believe you consider the costs of the workshop and your financial situation fairly.

The language of the workshop is English.
A maximum of 10 participants can participate.
No musical education or previous singing or music experience require. The difficulty of the workshop will be adapted to the level of the participants.
