NEW Workshop! - Monotype: Painterly Printmaking
Monotype is one of the simplest and most expressive forms of printmaking. In this class, you will look at monotypes by master artists such as Edgar Degas and Paul Gaugin as well as the work of monotype printmakers working today. You will learn two traditional techniques of monotype printmaking, the light field monotype and the dark field monotype, and through these processes, will address composition, color and value.
Upon completion of this class, youwill have completed a monotype and gained new skills through which they can channel their own artistic voices.
All materials provided.

Instructor Information:
Shannon Walker is a painter, printmaker and draftswoman, who was born and raised in Palm Beach County. Her education includes a BA in fine arts from Florida State University and extensive continued studies in painting and drawing at The Arts Student League, New York, National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland, and with various independent artists in Europe and the U.S.. After years of practicing and teaching art abroad, Shannon returned to South Florida in 2023, where she is currently a resident Teaching Artist at the Norton Museum of Art.
In her practice, Shannon uses traditional, realist methods, combined with a healthy dose of experimentation, to capture the contemporary world around her. She tends to approach whatever she is working on as an ongoing exploration. Usually, it's humans that interest her the most. She paints people for the love of the human form, but more than that, in hopes of expressing what lies beyond the form: the human spirit and human experience.
