About this Event
Description
Is it possible to find meaning and delight in the mundane tasks of work and home life? Can they serve any real good as we seek to love our neighbors? How might re-orienting our mundane work enable more faithful Christian living?
In this workshop, Dr. Harbin will help us to see how we can orient our mundane work toward its ultimate purpose and enact mundane work as faithful Christian living in particular places and times by walking us through the following:
- Living in a Divided World
- Seeing the World Christianly
- Seeking shalom from a particular place and time
- Reframing the mundane
This workshop includes interactive teaching in a small-group setting, followed by lunch together with continued discussion.
About Our Speaker
Justin Harbin is a third generation teacher with a passion for excellence and Christian faithfulness in the classroom. He is currently interested in the manner in which embodied, playful, and experiential learning shapes the way Christians make sense of their place in the world. Justin teaches education courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels and directs the Center for Teaching & Learning where he is responsible for leading faculty professional development in pedagogy and faith-learning integration.
Justin resides in Manheim, Pennsylvania with his four children and wife Chrissy. They enjoy spending time outdoors together and are members of Wheatland Presbyterian Church.
The Good Neighbor Project
Workshops are opportunities to connect with others and deepen our understanding of what it looks like to be a “good neighbor” as a follower of Christ, giving attention to both our internal and external lives.
We are a faith-based organization inviting you to follow the way of Jesus and seek the good of your neighbors in your present place and context.
Our programs welcome people into spaces where they can deepen their experience, understanding, and practice of loving God and their neighbors.
