ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Hsiao Shan Loh began playing the cello at the age of ten, and graduated from Singapore’s Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in 2017 under the tutelage of Ng Pei-Sian, Principal Cellist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with and led the cello sections of the award-winning Singaporean orchestras, such as Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM), and Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO) which led her to perform in various music festivals across the UK, Europe, US, and Asia.
As a multi-genre cellist, Shan is frequently invited to play for brand events productions across all art-forms and have worked with many international and local artistes, including Gentle Bones and Inch Chua. With a rich history in performance, Shan was selected as the only Singaporean representative for the Russian-ASEAN Orchestra in their 2019 instalment and has also performed in the orchestra for Les Misérables International Tour and the Michael Bublé World Tour to name a few.
Shan has been teaching since 2012, both privately and in schools, and champions individually crafted programmes to suit keen learners of all ages, grades and background. As an active musician in Singapore’s performing arts scene, Shan would like to continue working towards building the next generation of cellists in Singapore.
