Workshop Handmade Photographs: Cyanotype Tote Bag and Polaroid Transfer | 18.10.25

This workshop will combine two popular alternative photographic processes, cyanotypes and Polaroid transfers, to allow participants to experience a tactile, materially driven approach to making images.
In the first half of the workshop, you’ll tackle one of the oldest photographic techniques, the cyanotype, to make a photogram tote bag using materials collected from the surrounding location and those you bring to class. In the second half, you’ll will transform a favourite photo of theirs into a handmade, one-off Polaroid print by transferring and then manipulating their image onto paper.
These processes are a great entry into alternative photography as they are accessible, not requiring much specialist equipment or a darkroom, and relatively safe and non-toxic. You’ll leave the workshop with the knowledge to recreate cyanotypes and Polaroid transfers at home, along with the works they make in class.
These processes can be fun but finnicky, make sure you bring some patience with you. Recommended for ages 15 and above.
Lunch and afternoon tea provided by RACV.
Please note: this event is subject to minimum enrolment.
