Are you a K-12 teacher, college or university faculty member, librarian, homeschool educator, or museum educator?
Join the Boston Athenæum this summer for a workshop on expanding the use of primary sources in learning environments. We'll explore materials related to the abolitionist movement and the Underground Railroad, using the Harriet Hayden Albums as a starting point.
(See the Harriet Hayden Albums online: https://cdm.bostonathenaeum.org/digital/collection/p16057coll52)
Participants will have hands-on opportunities to work with rare materials from the Athenæum's collections. And guests from the Boston African American National Historic Site, Historic Newton, and the Museum of African American History will join us for special workshop sessions.
Schedule:
**July 13 from 6 to 7 pm | Keynote lecture (to be held on Zoom)
**July 14 from 8:30 am to 5 pm | Workshop sessions (in person)
**July 15 from 8:30 am to 5 pm | Workshop sessions (in person)
**July 16 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm | Optional research and writing day
The $100 registration fee includes access to the keynote lecture and all workshop sessions, lunch on Wednesday and Thursday, and a one-year individual membership to the library.
Licensed MA educators can earn at least 20 PDPs.
