Finding Wellness in Art and Nature – Get inspired by Paintings in the CollectionThis workshop explores the benefits of art and art appreciation on mental and physical wellbeing, consisting of a reflective group discussion and an opportunity to creatively respond to paintings.
We will be viewing and discussing Russell-Cotes popular paintings ‘Spray’ by H. Williamson and ‘The Bather’ by T. M Ronaldson. As well as finding out more about the paintings and the artists, we will be looking at the healing benefits of spending time by the seaside. After a short break participants will have an opportunity to respond artistically to the paintings, drawing on their own experiences. The aim is to allow for personal reflection and emersion in an artistic process that will both be pleasurable and stimulating and also provide relaxation.
There will be guidance and support, taking into account the various artistic starting points. Drawing materials (fine liners, colouring pens and paper/card) are included.
This workshop is led by Sabine Stroud. Sabine is a retired assistant headteacher with a passionate interest in art and developing an individual approach to art appreciation – the main emphasis being on relaxation, reflection and relating!
