Join us for an in-depth exploration of ceramic surface decoration through ornamental carving and texture!
During this 6-hour workshop on Sunday, Oct. 17, participants will learn the intricacies of carved ceramic decoration to create elegant functional pottery. Working with internationally-renowned artist Yoshi Fujii, you will explore the processes of designing, carving, and embellishing clay vessels for exquisite finishes.
During the workshop, Yoshi will guide students through a series of 4 carving exercises with a break for lunch. Students will have the option to throw ware to carve during the workshop or bring in leather-hard pieces they've already built.
By the end of the class, you will have created 2-3 hand-carved ceramic tiles, 1-2 beautifully decorated pots, and a new understanding of the surface techniques used for creating elegant functional ceramics!
IMPORTANT: Everyone entering District Clay must be vaccinated. In order to take this workshop, you will need to upload your vaccination card - a link will be sent with your email receipt. You will not be registered for this workshop until your card is uploaded.
